About the Product

Sioris My First Essener (32 USD; Made in Korea) – is described as a mix of toner and essence that should help prep, moisturize, calm and nourish your skin all in one go for a simplified skincare routine.

Packaging: it comes in a lovely glass bottle containing 100ml / 3.38fl.oz. of product, which is a generous [yet general] amount you normally get with most Korean skincare brands. Overall, this packaging feels quite modern and simple, which I personally like. You do need to shake the bottle quite a bit to get the product out, so that might be one of the [small] cons about it.

Formula: highlighted star ingredients are [organic] Green Tea, Rose Flower and Polyglutamic Acid (derived from soybeans and enriched in nutrients to revitalize and hydrate the skin). You also get a high amount of Glycerin and various types of Hyaluronic Acid, all of which are great for hydration. My First Essener has a thicker, water-meets-gel consistency with a faint herbal scent to it. Although it looks a bit brownish in the bottle, it goes on clear.

Wear & Feel: just like with most toners and essences, you can use My First Essener in the morning as well as during your night-time routine. Although most people find toners (or essences) unnecessary, with my dry and easily irritable skin I find that they actually re-balance and replenish it, as well as create an occlusive layer that helps prevent further moisture loss. I like to use about a dime-sized amount right after cleanser and before serums. On average, it takes this toner about a minute to get fully absorbed.

Once it sets, My First Essener feels weightless on the skin. It does add a slight glow, without ever feeling tacky or sticky. I prefer to apply this product with my hands, thus to avoid product/cotton waste.

First Impression: refreshed, rejuvenated and hydrated skin that looks healthy and plump. This sensation lasts well throughout the day. Redness is minimized and any minor irritations do not feel as bothersome.

Long-Term Results: hydrated, balanced complexion. Although My First Essener does little to prevent breakouts from happening, it does help with their healing (thanks to its calming and nourishing properties). Pores appear clearer, smaller.

Who is going to like it

If you look for a hydrating toner made from feel-good ingredients, no harsh chemicals/fragrances/mineral oils etc., look this way. Great for sensitive, drier skin types and beauties of all ages.

Verdict

My First Essener has been a lovely addition to my skincare routine for several months now. It is a reliable source of daily hydration, where you know exactly how the product is going to perform. From my experience this Sioris creation lived up to its claims and I certainly see myself repurchasing it in the future. I also like how it combines two steps in one, which is an added bonus. I give it A.
