"silk does for the body is what diamonds do for the hand"
Foreword
What would happen if you melted silk and turned it into a delicious liquid eyeshadow? The queen of makeup, my favorite Lisa Eldridge, has recently released a line of liquid matte eyeshadows called Liquid Silk. Naturally, I was intrigued and after testing this formula for some time, I am ready to share my thoughts.

About the Product
Lisa Eldridge Liquid Silk Eyeshadow (37 USD; Made in Italy) - is described as a skin-smoothing, soft-focus matte eyeshadow in a liquid form.
Packaging: true to Lisa Eldridge's style, you look at chic and practical design. Golden lid with the brand's logo engraved at the top. The tube is made of mattified, see-through plastic. The applicator has a flattened shape and picks up more than enough product for each application. Size-wise, the Liquid Silk Eyeshadow is travel-friendly and portable. You get 2.8 ml/ 0.09 fl oz worth of product.
Recyclable ♻️
Shade: Ione
Formula: one of the standout ingredients in the formula is Lapacho Bark, aka the "Tree Of Life". Native to South American rain forests, this oil-based ingredient is known for improving skin firmness, which explains the Liquid Silk Eyeshadow's skin-smoothing quality. Besides that, you look at advanced technology called Self-Setting Chrono Tech, a mix of texturizing film formers, which gives the formula its texture-enhancing, melting qualities. It also allows the shadow to self-set.
There is a higher concentration of Dimethicones (silicones), but also Rapeseed Oil and Shea Butter (moisturizing).
Cruelty-free🐇
Scent: none.
Finish: slightly wet at first, it then sets to a smooth, natural, satin finish.
Texture: saturated, creamy consistency that feels weightless once it sets.
Shades: currently available in five shades. These colors run on a natural side and are universally flattering. The Liquid Silk Eyeshadow is incredibly pigmented and can be easily sheered out or layered. The one you see in this post is called Ione, it is described as "cool, mauvy grey". I would say it leans more mauve in real life. A very beautiful, romantic tone. See it swatched below (freshly applied vs. blended out).
Shade: Ione
Application: while you deposit the product onto the lid with the applicator, it is best to blend the shadow out with either a brush (synthetic bristles work best) or fingertips. The formula of the Liquid Silk Eyeshadow is so user-friendly and forgiving, that it is nearly impossible to mess things up. It spreads with ease (as you may be able to tell by looking at my arm swatch above); I would recommend using it sparingly and layering it gradually.
This formula glides on like silk, sets to a softly diffused matte finish, and is quite flattering.
You can use the Liquid Silk Eyeshadow on its own, as a base, or mixed with the Liquid Lurex Eyeshadow for a touch of sparkle.
Wear: the formula is quite long-lasting for a liquid product. On me, it lasts for up to 6-7 hours, with minor fading (it happens gradually, without patchiness or fallout). Although it is not supposed to crease, I have rather oily lids, so it can happen. In this case, I simply layer a powder shadow or glitter on top, which works like a charm. The Liquid Silk Eyeshadow feels featherlight and suits my sensitive skin. It survives vigorous, sweaty workouts and humidity.
Verdict
Whether you are looking for a one-and-done product or a lovely neutral base for your eyeshadows, the Liquid Silk Eyeshadow is an excellent choice. I already enjoyed Lisa's Liquid Lurex Eyeshadow but the matte version is something I have been longing for for the longest time now. This formula is going to be loved by beginners, professionals, and beauties of a particular age. Not only does this shadow smooth the look of the lid, but it also livens up the complexion and creates a perfect base for any other product to go on top of. The shade selection is beautiful and I would love to see brighter or deeper tones within this range. A smoldering black, captivating purple, or even deep chocolate brown. Excellent creation by Lisa Eldridge that deserves an A+.
