About the Product
Fenty Beauty We're Even Hydrating Concealer (30 USD; Made in France) - is described as a long-wear, waterproof formula that feels hydrating and looks like a second skin.
Packaging: the brand's concealers tend to mimic the look of correlating foundations, so if you are familiar with the Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint (reviewed here), then you know where the inspiration for this packaging came from. The doe-foot applicator has a curved shape to it, which allows precise application and easy glide. You get 0.30 oz / 9 ml worth of product.
Formula: with the We're Even Hydrating Concealer you are getting a water-based formula that is infused with skin-loving ingredients such as Glycerin (hydration), Sodium Hyaluronate (hydration), Persian Silk Tree Extract (antioxidant), Prickly Pear Cactus Extract (moisture) to name a few.
Cruelty-free🐇
Texture: creamy, lightweight, easy to blend. For anyone wondering, this formula is not nearly as thick as that of the Pro Filt'r Concealer.
Scent: none.
Finish: natural skin finish.
Coverage: medium (or light when sheered out).
Shades: 50 shades that are split into three undertones (cool, neutral, and warm).
Tip💡
Fenty Beauty concealers tend to run a few tones brighter than their foundations. This is why it is important to go a shade or two darker if you want a color that will match your skin tone. The Pro Filt'r Concealer (review here) shades are not the same as those of the We're Even Hydrating Concealer. Ideally, I would recommend color-matching in person.
Application: all makeup tools work wonderfully with the We're Even Hydrating Concealer. Simply apply your concealer to the desired areas and blend it out with a sponge, brush, or fingertips. I find that this concealer looks best when it is applied in thin layers. I wear mine on top of the brand's Bright Fix (review here) color corrector and together they are a dream combo (especially if under-eye darkness is your concern).
Wear: there were days when I wore this concealer for 8-10 hours and it still looked great. It has even survived Pilates, which is a big deal considering what a tough and sweaty workout it is. Mind you, I have dry skin, so I do not set it with powder. Now, initially, you might experience minor creasing (it is inevitable). The We're Even Hydrating Concealer feels comfortable and weightless. It does not accentuate dryness or get patchy. I did not notice any fading either.
who is going to like it
If you have dry skin, this is your safe bet. Especially for the delicate under-eye area, this formula is superb. Now, I am not sure whether it will truly show any long-term skincare benefits (such as improved under-eye darkness, puffiness, or fatigue), but as far as the makeup realm is concerned it works beautifully.
If you have oily or combination skin, I am afraid you might find this formula a touch too dewy or radiant for your gusto.
Verdict
Personally speaking, I have been waiting for this product to drop for the longest time. Thankfully, it did not disappoint and I am here to say that the We're Even Hydrating Concealer deserves all the praise it has been getting on social media lately. This is a very dry skin-friendly, dependable formula that looks flattering and is easy to use. Now, the hardest part is choosing a perfect color match from the fifty shades presented. In my opinion, it is best to do this in person. I am happy to have this product in my makeup arsenal and would certainly recommend it to those of you who want a natural-looking, effortless concealer that doesn't feel dry and stays put well throughout the day. An A rating from me.
