Dior Forever Glow Star Filter, Review

Dior Forever Glow Star Filter Review

bright days and starry nights

Foreword

This year has been fruitful with glowing beauty launches. One of the most anticipated releases was the expansion of the Dior "Glow" family with two new dazzling members: Forever Glow Star Filter and Forever Glow Maximizer. In this post, we will chat about the Forever Glow Star Filter. Is it that good?

Curious? Then please keep on scrolling

My Skin: dry, sensitive

About the Product

Dior Forever Glow Star Filter Multi-Use Complexion Enhancing Booster (55 USD; Made in France) - is described as a long-wearing liquid illuminator that enhances the complexion. It promises to smooth and hydrate the skin.

Packaging: true to the Dior aesthetic, you look at a chic weighty glass bottle with a silver lid and a pump. Product specifics are either printed or engraved on the glass, which is a nice way to minimize the use of plastic. In total, you get 30 ml/ 1 fl oz worth of product (the same amount as the brand's Forever Glow foundation).

Shade 1

Formula: essentially, this is a water-based formula, with a high amount of Mica, Glycerin (humectant, occlusive layer), Lecithin (antioxidant, contains Vitamin E), Candelilla Wax (thickening agent), Hibiscus Flower Extract (antioxidant), Iris Root Extract (moisture), Sodium Chloride (binding agent) and more.

😊PROS

Although this is a makeup product, it is nice to see some skin-loving ingredients here.

☹️ CONS

This is a fragranced formula, which might be a deal-breaker for some people. My skin is sensitive, however, I did not experience any irritation or other side effects from using the Forever Glow Star Filter.

Texture: lightweight, serum-like consistency.

Scent: the Forever Glow Star Filter is lightly perfumed. This scent is identical to all other Dior foundations and is a bit similar to the Miss Dior perfume. It does not linger on the skin. After a few minutes, I no longer feel it.

Shade 1

Shades: currently available in 10 shades.

Application: this is a multi-tasking product, which can be used by itself, mixed with foundation, on top of foundation, or as an illuminating bronzer (if you decide to go a few shades deeper).

Lately, I have been loving a fresh, "no makeup" look on myself and the Forever Glow Star Filter is perfect for the job. It glides on like silk and looks flawlessly radiant. I sheer out one pump across my face and neck, add concealer/corrector where needed and my base is done. This formula needs a moment before it fully sets. Other products, both cream and powder, play well with it. Best applied with brushes or fingertips.

Finish: ethereally bright, glowing skin. Not shimmery or glittery, but naturally illuminated and lifted.

Wear: this formula is long-wearing, I would say it lasts quite well throughout the day (up to 8 or 10 hours). The product does not settle or accentuate pores and texture. It remains feeling weightless and does not cause dryness or irritation. Never greasy or sticky.

Comparison

Dior Forever Glow Star Filter Review

Now, I am sure many of you wonder how similar the Forever Glow Star Filter is to the iconic Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter (reviewed here). In my opinion, the Dior formula is a lot sheerer, hence more wearable when applied all over the face. The Charlotte Tilbury is much more light-reflective and bright (occasionally borderline metallic), so you have to be very strategic with your placement.

When it comes to the Forever Glow Star Filter you won't have to fuss as much. It is sophisticated, effortless, and user-friendly. Both have their time and place, so I guess it depends more on what you like and how intense you want your glow to be. Also, it is worth noting that the Dior formula offers little to no coverage, unlike the Hollywood Flawless Filter.

Verdict

The Dior Forever Glow Star Filter is sublime. If you love a healthy-looking, glowing complexion with a little bit of coverage, look this way. As someone with dry skin, I adore this new formula. It gives me everything I want and more. My complexion looks fresh and flawless whenever I wear it. I appreciate the versatility of it and just how sophisticated it is. Unlike many other products of a similar kind, this one does not get greasy or look over the top if you get carried away. I believe beauties of all ages and skin types will love it. A gorgeous release that deserves A++.
