Dior Diorshow Pump N Volume Mascara Review

volume has entered the chat

Foreword

Fun fact: Dior mascara was my very first high-end mascara. Even though the one I used may have been discontinued a while back, my love for the brand's mascaras remains. And in today's post, we will chat about a true gem in the iconic French line.

About the Product

Dior Diorshow Pump 'N' Volume Mascara (33 USD; Made in France) - is described as a "squeezable" mascara, that boosts volume and adds length in one stroke. It is labeled as long-wearing, transfer-proof, and intense in color.

Packaging: this design has been on the market since 2017. While the Dior logo has changed, the look of this mascara has remained the same. You work with a rubbery tube that can be squeezed in the middle so that you get the most use out of the product. The rubber can get a bit sticky and fingerprint-y over time. The wand is made of tiny, spiky, plastic bristles. This allows extra close access to the roots of your lashes. The bristles are not scratchy and do not poke the skin.

Formula: the Diorshow Pump 'N' Volume Mascara is made of 90% natural-origin ingredients.

😊 PROS

The highlighted ingredient is Cornflower Extract (aka Centaurea Cyanus Flower Water), which is said to have lash-hydrating and caring properties. Essentially, this is a water-based formulation, rich in Beeswax, Hydrogenated Olive Oil, Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil, and Rice Bran Wax, all of which are known for their hydrating and nourishing qualities. Besides that, you get various pH adjusters, Panthenol (Vitamin B5), and more.

☹️ CONS

Check the complete list here to see if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. I have sensitive eyes and had no issues with the Diorshow Pump 'N' Volume Mascara.

Shade featured in this post: 795 Marron/Brown

Texture: creamy, smooth.

Scent: no added fragrance.

Shades: the Diorshow Pump 'N' Volume Mascara is available in black, brown, and blue. Additional, limited-edition colors may be added temporarily. So, if you like this formula, just keep an eye on the brand's seasonal collections and releases.

Application: most volumizing mascaras tend to clump lashes together, which is my pet peeve. Thankfully, this has never been the case with the Diorshow Pump 'N' Volume Mascara. It brushes through lashes with ease, coating them equally well from the root to the tip, so you get a nice definition as a result. When the mascara tube is brand new, you may have to be mindful of how much you use as it is still on the "wet" side and might deposit more product than needed.

Results: the mascara sets to a natural, semi-matte finish. You can use less or more, depending on the look you have in mind (and the state of your lashes naturally). Mine are long and lifted, but a touch sparse in places. The Diorshow Pump 'N' Volume Mascara does a great job of adding the missing volume, while still keeping my lashes lifted and separated.

Wear: comfortable, non-drying, and long-lasting. Even after many hours, there is no fallout, crumbling, or smudging. I use the non-waterproof version and it survives the sweatiest workouts, oily lids, eye cream, and humidity. 10/10. I do recommend using an oil-based cleanser, something like the Caudalie Makeup Removing Cleansing Oil, to remove it.

who is going to like it

Mascara is probably the most personal makeup item. I believe you are going to enjoy the Diorshow Pump 'N' Volume Mascara if you want volume and definition. While it lengthens, volumizing is where it truly shines. That and the extremely comfortable, transfer-proof wear.

Verdict

Mascaras come and go, but the Diorshow Pump 'N' Volume Mascara is here to stay. The fact that it has been on the market for seven years now, only speaks about how great this formula is. The price is well worth it, I find that I get a lot of use out of mine and even when it dries down, you are still able to squeeze a bit more. This is when the innovative packaging becomes your best friend. If you are on the hunt for a high-end mascara, one that is extra volumizing and mess-free, look this way. A+
