SOS skincare is one of my favorite topics and it might explain the presence of today's guest star. Many of us have been fans of the Caudalie Vinopure range for years. Recently the brand welcomed a new family member, their very own spot treatment. Does it live up to its claims though?

About the Product
Caudalie Salicylic Spot Solution (25 USD; Made in France) is a spot-targeting solution enriched with powerful ingredients to visibly reduce breakouts, tighten pores, and purify the skin.
Packaging: as you might know, every line at Caudalie has its signature color. All Vinopure products come in a beautiful pastel shade of green. The Salicylic Spot Solution is housed in a slim metallic tube containing 15 ml/ 0.5 oz worth of product. The packaging is very dainty and travel-friendly.
Recyclable ♻️
Formula: every Caudalie formulation is free from harsh chemicals or preservatives. You get the best that nature has to offer and the Salicylic Spot Solution is no exception. Essentially, you look at a water-based formula rich in Glycerin (occlusive layer, hydration), Bentonite (removes impurities), Niacinamide (minimizes pores, brightens), Salicylic Acid (anti-inflammatory) Grape Seed Extract (antioxidant), Arginine (supports collagen synthesis and skin elasticity), Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil (antibacterial), and more green ingredients.
😊 PROS
The highlighted trio of Salicylic Acid, Tea Tree, and Niacinamide is amazing at tackling breakouts and inflammation, as well as keeping pores nice and clear.
☹️ CONS
You get a higher level of Alcohol Denat, which is commonly used as a solvent or penetration enhancer. However, it can be drying over time. Thankfully, even with my dry skin, I have not experienced an adverse reaction.
Vegan🌱 Cruelty-free🐇
Texture: lightweight, gel-meets-cream texture that spreads and absorbs easily. The Salicylic Spot Solution has a light green tint to it (natural pigments), however, on the skin it looks pretty much clear. In color theory, green neutralizes red, so my guess is this was done to color-correct and tone down the redness.
Scent: no added fragrance. The product does have a soft and natural fresh scent though. If you have used any of the Vinopure products before, you know exactly what I am talking about.
Application: the Salicylic Spot Solution is a targeted spot treatment, so feel free to apply it to any areas that need attention. It can be used under makeup or overnight. With angry spots, you can layer it a few times a day to speed up the healing process. I usually do this on my makeup-free days.
The formula is quite weightless, so it is easy to spread the product. Initially, you might feel a slight cooling sensation. The Salicylic Spot Solution sets clear and does not create a film over the skin, like many other popular spot treatments. It is almost as if you are layering a lightweight cream or serum.
I also find that this product works beautifully in combination with spot patches. They adhere with ease and calm down breakouts even faster.
Wear: does not burn, irritate, dry, or sting the skin. Even after prolonged use, it does not cause redness or increase skin sensitivity like many other spot treatments. Under makeup, you will not even see it. There is no added texture or stickiness.
I do think the Salicylic Spot Solution works best when it is either reapplied or in combination with the brand's Vinopure Salicylic Acid Toner and Vinopure Salicylic Acid Serum. For extra stubborn spots this trio is excellent.
Verdict
I am very picky when it comes to spot treatments. In my opinion, they either work or not. Luckily, the Salicylic Spot Solution came into my life at the time when I was breaking out the most. Not sure whether hormones or sweaty workouts were to blame, but the moment I started using this Caudalie creation together with other Vinopure gems, my skin cleared up much smoother compared to how it would bounce back otherwise. The results were not immediate, so I had to repeat the same routine for a few days. But with some patience, everything cleared up without compromising the skin barrier. Whenever I feel like my skin needs extra TLC, I reach out for Vinopure. Overall, a lovely gentle formulation that deserves B+.
