About the Product

Caudalie VinoHydra Deep Hydration Moisturizer (38 USD; Made in France) - is described as an intensely hydrating rich moisturizer made for dry and very dry skin types. It targets dryness, redness, and elasticity.

Packaging: the VinoHydra line includes three moisturizers with varying levels of intensity. While the tubes are the same, they do differ in color. Pay attention to the labeling on the tube and its color. The Deep Hydration Moisturizer comes in the deepest shade of pink and contains 60 ml/ 2.0 fl oz worth of product. The new packaging is a bit see-through, so you can track how much moisturizer is left inside. Each tube is sealed. Size-wise, these are perfect for on-the-go or travels.

Formula: the Deep Hydration Moisturizer is a water-based formulation rich in Glycerin (occlusive layer, hydration), Squalane (anti-inflammatory, hydration), Ethyl Oleate (emollient), Shea Butter (nourishment, hydration), Grape Seed Extract, Grape Fruit Water (antioxidant, prebiotic), and more. You also get a lower concentration of Hydrogenated Castor Oil (anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial), Hydrogenated Olive Oil (antioxidants, nourishment), Sunflower Seed Oil (soothing), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Sodium Hyaluronate (hydration), and Grape Juice (antioxidant).

😊 PROS

The star-studded list includes a lot of skin-loving ingredients. The use of alcohol (as an emollient or stabilizer) is inevitable with a rich formula like this and I am glad that Cetearyl Alcohol was used as it is the gentlest form of alcohol suitable for dry or sensitive skin types.

☹️ CONS

This formula has added fragrance. While it is the last ingredient on the list, which tells us of its insignificant quantity, I thought to highlight this for those who want their products scent-free. As far as everyday use goes, I have not experienced any irritation with the Deep Hydration Moisturizer.

Texture: blendable rich cream consistency. Spreads and absorbs with ease.

Scent: this formula has a slight amount of fragrance. The scent (can be described as grape-y and fresh) is quite inoffensive and does not linger.

Finish: natural but might get more radiant as the day goes by.

Application: the Deep Hydration Moisturizer can be used as part of your AM and PM routines. If you wear makeup and want something lighter for the daytime, use it at night only. This moisturizer absorbs well no matter what kinds of other skincare formulations you layer underneath it. From my experience, it played well with makeup and various sun-care products.

first impression

With a slightly dense texture like this, it is best to dot it all over and then blend one area at a time. Skin feels calm, soothed, and well moisturized. This sensation lasts all day (or night). However, if you over-apply, it might feel a bit tacky in places. Balance is key.

long-term use

Dry patches, texture, dehydration begone. Skin is extra soft, barrier is thriving. Even with over-exposure to chlorine (I am a swimmer) skin is balanced. The Deep Hydration Moisturizer did not clog my pores or cause any long-term adverse reactions. It was particularly helpful after the use of chemical exfoliants and actives (think AHAs, BHAs, Retinol, and Retinal); kept my skin hydrated and nourished no matter what I put it through.

Verdict

Although reformulations of cult-favorite products can often go wrong, this was not the case with the VinoHydra Deep Hydration Moisturizer. It is still a dependable and extra-nourishing formulation for those with dry and very dry skin. A particularly great companion for beauties living in dry, windy, cold climates. This Caudalie moisturizer has been a great friend during winter months. It kept dehydration and skin tightness at bay. If you are on a hunt for a true rich cream, this could be the one. An A from me.
